Deadline: June 26, 2026

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) has announced a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the FY 2026 Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP), a competitive grant program that supports projects aimed at improving the safety, efficiency, and reliability of goods movement through ports and their intermodal connections. Funded through both the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026, the program makes approximately $488.6 million in total funding available, with at least 25 percent reserved for small projects at small ports. Eligible applicants include states, local governments, port authorities, Tribal entities, and multijurisdictional partnerships, as well as public entities applying jointly with private partners.

Funding may be used for a wide range of projects, including port infrastructure upgrades, intermodal freight connections, operational and resilience improvements, and environmental and emissions reduction initiatives such as port electrification and clean equipment deployment. Applications are due June 26, 2026 and need to be submitted electronically through Grants.gov. As always, the Build America Center (BAC) offers no-cost technical assistance to help applicants navigate federal funding opportunities and develop competitive applications.
