Title:
Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Grant Program
Agency: Maritime Administration (MARAD)
Deadline: July 23, 2026
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Grant Program, which provides federal funding to support hazard mitigation projects that reduce long-term disaster risks and strengthen infrastructure resilience against natural hazards. The program makes approximately $1 billion in total funding available across multiple categories, including state and territory allocations, Tribal set-asides, building code initiatives, and a large national competition with awards up to $20 million per project, while limiting total awards to no more than 15 percent of available funding per applicant.
Eligible applicants include states, territories, Tribal governments, and the District of Columbia, with local governments and communities eligible to apply as subapplicants. Funding supports a range of activities, including infrastructure projects that reduce disaster risk, capability- and capacity-building efforts such as building code adoption and enforcement, and limited management costs. Applications are due July 23, 2026, and must be submitted through the FEMA GO system, with proposals evaluated based on criteria such as project readiness, risk reduction, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with hazard mitigation plans. As always, the Build America Center (BAC) offers no-cost technical assistance to help applicants navigate federal funding opportunities and develop competitive applications.
