The Build America Center (BAC) and the Governor’s Office of Rural Development are co-hosting a Rural Transit Summit on November 20th at LSU Alexandria, bringing together leaders and practitioners committed to strengthening mobility, access, and opportunity in rural Louisiana.
This day-long event will serve as a working forum to gather on-the-ground input on the transit challenges and needs of Louisiana’s rural residents — particularly how transportation access affects workforce participation, economic mobility, educational access, and healthcare access across local, regional, and statewide levels.
The Summit will feature keynote speakers, expert panels, and solution demonstrations from innovators in the field. Participants will examine best practices, funding options, data needs, and local success stories to help reduce mobility barriers in rural communities — where transit is often a deciding factor in whether people can reach jobs, school, training, clinics, or essential services.
