The Build America Bureau hosted the inaugural Regional Infrastructure Accelerators (RIA) Summit on November 29, 2023, in College Park, Maryland. The RIA program, established by the FAST Act, aims to accelerate project development using innovative financing. Attended by over 70 representatives, including 19 RIA grant awardees, the Summit aimed to bolster capacity and provide technical assistance for projects using innovative financing. With $34 million awarded to 21 public entities over three funding cycles, the Summit focused on lessons learned from Round 1 Accelerators, presentations on innovative finance tools, and collaborative roundtables. Attendees emphasized the value of regional partnerships and leveraging these relationships to advance project delivery. The Summit facilitated information sharing to advance innovative project financing/delivery and created networking opportunities between grant recipients.
