FHWA P3 Course

Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Training Course: Use of Public-Private Partnerships (P3) for Delivery of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure for Communities

Upcoming Workshop: April 10, In-Person

One-day, in-person training for local government staff involved in Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure

Location: NHI training facilities, 2600 Park Tower Drive, Suite 500, Vienna, VA 22180 (Weatherford Training Room)

EVENT DETAILS:

Course participants will be introduced to P3s and the potential benefits and challenges in using a P3 to deliver EV charging infrastructure. Participants will learn how P3s for EV charging infrastructure differ from traditional P3s used to deliver major highway and transit infrastructure projects and how P3 project agreements can be structured to address these differences. The training will discuss key steps to procure a P3 for EV charging infrastructure, from project preparation to market sounding and partner selection. A major part of the training will include discussion of key questions raised by use of P3s and hands-on instruction in the use of analytical tools for decision-making, including a screening tool to determine the appropriateness of a P3, a tool to evaluate the financial viability and affordability of a P3 for the public agency, and a tool to help ensure that the P3 model will achieve the strategic goals of the public agency.
